In line with the Philippine Fisheries and Coastal Resiliency (FishCoRe) project’s vision on climate resilience of fisheries programs and projects in coastal fishing communities, the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute(NFRDI) conducted a Climate Risk Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA) in FMA6 Coordinating Unit 1, particularly for Magsingal, Ilocos Sur on March 4-5, 2026.

A CRVA Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted on the first day at Selah Vie, San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur, bringing together fisherfolk representatives from both the aquaculture and capture fisheries sectors, along with representatives from Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) and the Local Government Unit of Magsingal. The activity featured guided discussions, an open forum, workshops, and the presentation of sectoral outputs for validation and review.

Meanwhile, an on-site Cost Benefit Analysis(CBA) survey was conducted at Brgy. Puro and Miramar in Magsingal. The CBA is a data-driven approach used to compare the projected costs and benefits of a project or intervention. It serves as a decision-making tool to determine the financial viability and overall value of proposed climate-resilient fisheries initiatives.

Overall, the activity was conducted successfully in coordination with the FCU1 FishCCRM Members, NSAP Region 1 and PFO-Ilocos Sur personnel.
