FishCoRe Year-End Review for FY 2024 & Annual Planning Workshop: Reflecting on Progress, Preparing for the Future

The Philippine Fisheries and Coastal Resiliency Project (FishCoRe) commenced its 2025 activities with a comprehensive Year-End Review for FY 2024 and an Annual Planning Workshop. This dual-purpose event was designed to facilitate a thoughtful reflection on the successes and obstacles encountered in 2024, while simultaneously paving the way for the strategic planning and goal setting for FY 2025. Participants engaged in a thorough assessment of the project’s implementation status and overall progress, as well as in charting a clear path forward for the upcoming fiscal year. The workshop fostered a collaborative environment, encouraging inputs and perspectives from all levels of the project, including the National Project Management Office (NPMO), Regional Project Implementation Units (RPIUs), FMA Coordinating Units (FCUs), and key partner agencies.

In his opening address, BFAR National Director Elizer “Toto” S. Salilig underscored the critical importance of timely and efficient service delivery, stating, “It is crucial that we act swiftly so that we can promptly deliver services to our fisherfolk.” This emphasis on expeditious action and service provision set the tone for the workshop and highlighted the project’s commitment to the communities it serves.

The collective dedication and collaborative spirit of these groups were evident as they worked together to forge a path towards a more resilient and sustainable future for the communities in FMA 6 and 9. The ultimate goal of these concerted efforts is to enhance the lives and livelihoods of the beneficiaries, ensuring a brighter and more prosperous future for all, especially for the fisheries sector.
