The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) conducted the Levelling-off and Finalization for Aqua-Industrial Business Corridors (ABCs) and Aqua-Business Technology Incubators (ABTI) Centers and Commodities Workshop on April 29 and 30, 2024.
The workshop convened key personnel to finalize crucial project details under the Modern and Resilient Livelihood Investments (MARLIN) Component. Led by Jessica Muñoz, Deputy Project Manager of FishCoRe, Mahfuzuddin Ahmend, World Bank Aquaculture Business Specialist, and Elymi Ar-J Tuñacao, Component Lead for MARLIN, the session aimed to streamline project implementation strategies.
Specifically, the workshop aimed to conduct scoping for ABCs in selected aquaculture and fisheries sites within Fisheries Management Areas (FMAs) 6 and 9, finalize the prioritization of municipalities and commodities for ABCs and ABTIs under Project MARLIN 2.2, and provide a comprehensive overview of the Aquaculture Zoning, Climate Resilient Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA), Value Chain Analysis (VCA), and Research Agenda for Aquaculture.
Attended by representatives from the FishCoRe National Program Management Office, MARLIN Subcomponent Leads, Regional Project Implementation Unit (RPIUs) and Fisheries Coordinating Units (FCUs) and Provincial Fisheries Offices (PFOs) from FMA 6 and 9, DA National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI); the DA Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA), the workshop showcased collaborative efforts driving the project forward.
With a steadfast commitment to sustainability and resilience in the fisheries sector, the Levelling-off and Finalization Workshop represents a significant stride towards realizing the objectives of the FishCoRe project.
